ABOUT

I am a predominately self-taught artist that works with several mediums (illustration & printmaking) but have primarily focused on embroidered graphite drawings on paper since 2014.

My portraits concentrate on depictions of fragile and seductively melancholy women exploring the parallels of ecstasy and sorrow. While I do not come from a textile background, the inclusion of embroidery and beading to my drawings was derived from a desire for something more challenging and different by adding an extra dimension of texture, colour and depth. A further richness is added by my use of semiprecious stone, silks, and other fine materials.

A sense of quiet desire and tender aloofness permeate my work that at once beckons the audience while reflecting a pleading restraint.
